God or Heavenly Father

I like how the student in this story explains that God is real and there. I dont know if the student in the story really is who is says at the bottom of the story but I know that God or Heavenly Father is real. He is well aware of each and everyone of His children. Doctrine and Covenants 98: 1-3 says "Verily I say unto you my friends, fear not, let your hearts be comforted; yea, rejoice evermore, and in everyhing give thanks; Waiting patiently on the Lord, for your prayers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, and are recorded with is seal and testament-the Lord hath sworn and decreed that they shall be granted. Therefore he giveth this promis unto you, with an immutable covenant that they shall be fulfilled; and all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good, and to my name's glory, saith the Lord" (italics added) I know this to be true. Just keep in mind this scripture as you read it.

Professor : You are a Christian, aren’t you, son ?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor: So, you believe in GOD ?
Student : Absolutely, sir.
Professor : Is GOD good ?
Student : Sure.
Professor: Is GOD all powerful ?
Student : Yes.
Professor: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?
(Student was silent.)
Professor: You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s start again, young fella. Is GOD good?
Student : Yes.
Professor: Is satan good ?
Student : No.
Professor: Where does satan come from ?
Student : From … GOD …
Professor: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?
Student : Yes.
Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And GOD did make everything. Correct?
Student : Yes.
Professor: So who created evil ?
(Student did not answer.)
Professor: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor: So, who created them ?
(Student had no answer.)
Professor: Science says you have 5 Senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son, have you ever seen GOD?
Student : No, sir.
Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your GOD?
Student : No , sir.
Professor: Have you ever felt your GOD, tasted your GOD, smelt your GOD? Have you ever had any sensory perception of GOD for that matter?
Student : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.
Professor: Yet you still believe in Him?
Student : Yes.
Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.
Professor: Yes, faith. And that is the problem Science has.
Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?
Professor: Yes.
Student : And is there such a thing as cold?
Professor: Yes.
Student : No, sir. There isn’t.
(The lecture theater became very quiet with this turn of events.)
Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.
(There was pin-drop silence in the lecture theater.)
Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?
Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?
Student : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light. But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and its called darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it is, well you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?
Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man ?
Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.
Professor: Flawed ? Can you explain how?
Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good GOD and a bad GOD. You are viewing the concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing.
Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
Professor: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.
Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going.)
Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor. Are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?
(The class was in uproar.)
Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor’s brain?
(The class broke out into laughter. )
Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?
(The room was silent. The Professor stared at the student, his face unfathomable.)
Professor: I guess you’ll have to take them on faith, son.
Student : That is it sir … Exactly ! The link between man & GOD is FAITH. That is all that keeps things alive and moving.
P.S.
I believe you have enjoyed the conversation. And if so, you’ll probably want your friends / colleagues to enjoy the same, won’t you?
Forward this to increase their knowledge … or FAITH.
By the way, that student was EINSTEIN.

Standard Works

The link below is for anyone who wants to read the ENTIRE standard works of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Old Testament (OT), New Testament (NT), Book of Mormon (BoM), Doctrine and Covenants (D&C), and Pearl of Great Price (PoGP)) at least once this year. Once a year standard works reading schedule. This schedule that my mom found, tells you the month, day and what page you should read to in the Bible (Old and New Testament) and the modern revelation we know as the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. With this schedule you read approx. 4 pages in the bible and approx. 2 or 3 in the modern revelation a day. 6 pages a day for 365 days is not a bad schedule in order to read the standard works (approx. 2,500 pages). Here is a link to set your own reading schedule. Set your own reading schedule for the standard works. Here is another link to a website I used to use/still use to set reading schedules for church magazines, Sunday School (middle hour of our three hour Sunday meeting), Priesthood,/Relief Society (third hour of our Sunday meeting. Priesthood for men and Relief Society for women), Seminary, and other reading material the Church has put out, such as Preach My Gospel. You can also create a scripture reading schedule by reading the scripture stories. Create your own scripture reading schedule

I challenge you to try and stay with a reading schedule for the scriptures, whether you use one of these sites or not, it is a very important thing to do. I am going to try my hardest to read the Old Testament, New Testament, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. I have read the Book of Mormon about 3-5 times in the past 5 years and I know how important the Book of Mormon is as scripture and I want to learn for myself how important the rest of the scriptures are. I have had a few moments as I am just turning pages and something pops out to me and I know that it is inspired of God, but I want to know without a doubt that ALL the revealed scriptures we have is true and the best way for me (personally) to learn that, is to just search, ponder, and pray to know if it is true. I know the Lord will guide me as I do this. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

New Year 2013

Here are a few quotes I have saw on facebook over the past couple weeks that I REALLY love. These first few (well first 14) are things I want to try and do better at this year.

These next pictures I love because it is a reminder to me that Heavenly Father is not going to forget me. I know he has a plan for me. It is extremely hard some days for me to remember this and other days it's easy. I looked up substance on www.dictionary.com and this is one of the definitions of substance "the subject matter of thought, discourse, study, etc". So if we replace substance with that definition it reads "faith is the subject matter of thought, discourse, study, etc of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." This makes it a little easier for me to remember what it means to have faith. I know that if we ALWAYS remember the Lord and have faith in Him, then we will grow so close to Him and feel his amazing love for each of us. We also come to discover that God is really all we need. If we have the faith in Him that he will guide us in life, then amazing things start to happen. I know without a doubt that we met every person for a reason. Every little and big trial placed in each of our lives, is there for a reason. Some trials last for a few minutes, hours, or days. Some last for years. I do not know why that is other then it WILL make that person stronger IN THE END! One of my favorite churchy/christian songs is by Katherine Nelson and it is called Sometimes He Lets It Rain. I'll post the lyrics in a different post, but this song puts it into perspective for me. I know that ALL things happen in God's timing. We are very impatient as mortals, but we HAVE to learn to be patient over and over again. It is a virtue that takes a lifetime to learn. I know that what I have said here is true. I know that Heavenly Father is aware of me and my needs. He truly does know me better then I know myself. He has proven that to me over and over again. I need Him in my life. There is no way I could get through life without Him in it. As a convert I have lived without God in my life and now that I have the gospel, I do not know how my family (parents and siblings) lived without the gospel. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are always there, waiting for us to turn to them. They will never, ever, ever reject us if we are doing what we have been taught to do. I know They love each of us. They are watching over us and helping us even though it doesn't feel like it at times. I say this in our glorious Savior Jesus Christ name. Amen.

Sometimes He Lets It Rain

Sometimes He Lets It Rain

She sees the storm clouds gather
The sky is turning cold and gray
She knows that something's coming
When she starts to feel this way
She pleads for intervention
But heaven offers no relief
And she would understand if she could only see that

Sometimes He lets it rain
He lets the fierce winds blow
Sometimes it takes a storm
To lead a heart where it can grow
He can move mountains of grief
And oceans of pain
But sometimes he lets it rain

When her heart surrenders
To the Master in control
Her spirit learns the lessons of the tempest in her soul
When it's no longer raging
She can see how far she's come
Through the wisdom and the mercy of the Son

Sometimes He lets it rain
He lets the fierce winds blow
Sometimes it takes a storm
To lead a heart where it can grow
He can move mountains of grief
And oceans of pain
But sometimes he lets it rain
